Then you've found yourself a MeshCore repeater, possibly setup by one of the volunteers with the LoRa Project. MeshCore is an off grid wireless protocol, useful for communicating where cellular towers can't reach (or when they are offline).

These are self contained devices that need little if any maintenance, and we ask that people who install them to get permission before they place them on someone elses land or in public spaces.

Please contact Chris if you want to know more about the device you've found - The LoRa Project has no say over what a MeshCore user does with their radio nodes, but we may be able to track down someone who has installed it an an unwelcome space.
