Code of Conduct¶
Our pledge¶
We want Mesh Radio Ireland (N&S) to be welcoming, safe, and useful for people at all experience levels — from first-node beginners to RF nerds.
We expect respectful, good-faith participation regardless of background, identity, experience level, or opinions.
Encouraged behaviours¶
- Be helpful, not gatekeepy (point to docs, explain terms, share context).
- Assume misunderstandings happen (tone is hard in text).
- Discuss ideas, not people — disagree without being disrespectful.
- Share safe, practical advice (region/legal context, RF safety, deployment safety).
- Credit sources when sharing guides, diagrams, code, configs, or copied material.
- Repair harm if you mess up (apologise, clarify, and move on).
Not allowed here¶
- Harassment / hate: slurs, threats, bullying, repeated hostility, targeted dogpiling.
- Personal attacks: insulting or demeaning comments aimed at a person/group.
- Privacy violations / doxxing: sharing personal info, locations, private logs, or screenshots without clear permission.
- Impersonation or ban evasion.
- Sexual/NSFW content (we keep it clean here).
- Spam/scams or repeated unsolicited promotion.
Legal & harm rules (mesh/radio specific)¶
Do not request or share instructions that enable illegal or harmful activity, including (examples): - jamming / intentional interference - intercepting private comms or "how to listen in" - tracking/stalking people or devices - evading enforcement actions or restrictions - threats, intimidation, or weaponisation
If you're unsure whether something crosses the line, ask a moderator before posting.
Reporting an issue¶
Report problems privately so we can handle it without public drama.
Open a ticket in #support. Tickets are private (only you + mods). Please include message links/screenshots and a short summary of what happened.
Mods will take reports seriously and keep details as private as possible while acting effectively.
Enforcement ladder (guideline)¶
Depending on severity, we may skip steps: 1) Reminder (light nudge / clarify expectations) 2) Warning (logged; what must stop) 3) Timeout / cooldown (temporary mute or limited channels) 4) Temporary ban 5) Permanent ban (rare; for severe or repeated issues)
Severe cases (threats, hate speech, doxxing, illegal/harmful instruction) typically jump straight to timeouts/bans.
Scope¶
This applies in all server spaces, and behaviour that directly impacts the community (including DMs initiated via the server).
Attribution¶
This Code of Conduct is inspired by common open-community standards (including Contributor Covenant-style language) and adapted for this Discord community.
